Job Descriptions:

Development and Delivery
  • Core Feature Implementation: Take direct responsibility for designing and implementing critical project modules and complex logic requiring high technical expertise.
  • Conducting Code Reviews: Scrutinize code and deliverables written by engineers to ensure they meet high quality standards (readability, maintainability, security, etc.). Provide feedback as necessary.
  • Technology Selection and Architecture Design: Select and propose the optimal technology stack, considering scalability and maintainability.
Technical Support and Maintenance
  • Technical Support Oversight: Conduct cross-functional investigations into complex inquiries from Japanese customers and derive logical solutions. Build operational workflows and direct engineers to execute them.
  • In-depth Product Analysis and Specification Review: Thoroughly analyze standard product features and customized areas.
  • Workflow-Linked Issue Investigation: Understand Japan-specific business practices and customer-specific workflows to resolve not only “system errors” but also “business process inconsistencies.”
  • Initial Response to Emergencies: Take command during critical failures, swiftly completing tasks from temporary recovery (workarounds) to root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Resource and Priority Optimization: Organize and allocate “maintenance and additional development” requests from multiple customers based on urgency and business impact.
Management
  • Building Self-Managing Teams: Foster a “self-management culture” where teams identify challenges internally and complete proposals and solutions without waiting for instructions from Japan.
  • Transferring Operational Knowledge: Logically structure workflows, educate and document them in a form local engineers can understand, and ensure execution.
  • Engineer Evaluation and Career Path Design: Provide not only technical feedback but also clarify criteria for raises and promotions, delivering tailored coaching aligned with these to achieve long-term retention.
  • Recruitment and Scaling: Lead candidate sourcing, technical test design, and interview selection based on future expansion plans. Take responsibility for growing your own team.
  • Systematizing knowledge sharing: Aggregate and make accessible development best practices and past incident cases, building a robust training framework.
  • Ensuring psychological safety: Maintain an open team environment where failures are not hidden and can be reported/discussed promptly, enhancing organizational transparency.
KPI Setting & Performance Evaluation
  • Establishment of KPI and Performance Evaluation Processes: Define and implement quantitative and qualitative KPIs to measure team and individual performance, aligned with Japanese quality standards, SLAs, and corporate policies. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for unmet targets as necessary.
  • Budget and Resource Management (Cost Management): Manage team utilization and optimize resource allocation within project budgets. Perform cost-benefit analysis for selecting external vendors or tools to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Identify and analyze potential risks, and develop comprehensive mitigation plans. Execute proactive risk management to address project delays or quality degradation.
Bridge Communication and Cultivating a Shared Culture
  • Report and Decision-Making Process Management: Manage stakeholder engagement by providing regular quantitative and qualitative reports on project progress, costs, and risks, ensuring proactive expectation management.
  • Understanding and Communicating Context: Beyond just conveying the “What” coming down from Japan, we break down the business context—including ‘Why’ and “Who”—into local language to enhance team buy-in.
  • Cultivating a “Japanese Standard” Culture: Translate subjective feedback like ‘unintuitive’ or “sluggish” into concrete metrics (response time, UI guidelines) to establish clear quantitative benchmarks for engineers. Educate local members to embrace Japanese cultural traits—such as strict adherence to deadlines and meticulous attention to detail (craftsmanship)—as values that contribute to their personal growth. Bridge the gap between Japanese market demands and engineering execution by converting them into technical specifications and fostering a global-standard quality mindset.
  • Optimizing Time Zones and Culture: Design efficient task handoffs (Overnight Delivery) leveraging the Japan-Pakistan time difference (4 hours) to maximize operational speed.
  • Managing Expectations (Stakeholder Management): Ensure engineers accurately report technical constraints and risks to Japan, balancing “what is feasible” versus “what is not feasible.”

Qualifications:

Must to have
  • 10+ years of development experience
  • Engineer team management experience
  • Experience with overseas IT projects
Nice to have
  • Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure and system operations (networks, servers, cloud)
  • Basic knowledge of RPA tools
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with a proven track record of applying specific frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban to optimize delivery.
  • VB, .Net, C# skills
  • Basic knowledge of PCI DSS
  • Knowledge of web applications such as web scraping
  • Equivalent to ITIL Foundation (IT Service Management)
  • Equivalent to CompTIA A+ and Network+ (basic IT skills)
  • Equivalent to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud certifications
  • Security-related certifications
  • Conflict Resolution & Mediation: Proven ability to navigate and resolve disagreements across cross-cultural boundaries and between technical teams and business stakeholders, fostering consensus and maintaining project momentum.
  • Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N3 or higher is preferred; alternatively, a strong and demonstrable willingness to learn Japanese and embrace Japanese business etiquette is required.
